Mile Club

Heyhey!  Today was rather relaxed.  As I was doing my daily run today I had a pretty cool experience.  Part of our running path goes across the flight line.  As I was running across a C-5 was coming in for a landing.  How I wished I had my camera then!!  It was pretty amazing to see...it felt like it was coming right at me.  Maybe I will be able to capture it one day.  Below is a photo after my run.  I signed up for the Mile Club.
If you do certain amounts of miles you get different things, like water bottles or bags or t-shirts.  My goal is the t-shirt, which I believe is about 200 miles.  It might be 300.  Either way its definitely feasible for me to accomplish over a year!

Also, I learned a new lesson last night as I cooked in my oven for the first time (a baked sweet potato!).  Don't put bananas on top of the stove.  Apparently the oven heats up the ENTIRE stove...I mean too hot to touch the top of it!  Lesson learned.

And one more fun photo below.  Our Wolfpack water tower!
That's all for now folks!  Tomorrow...an Italian dinner in Korea!

First day of church in Kunsan

I went to my first day of church in Kunsan.  It was a combined service since we had a 4-day weekend here.  I will probably be going to the contemporary service at 1700.  The below photos are from a perfomance we had called the Ministry of Mimes.  It was pretty inspirational!

I read outside in my backyard the rest of the day and slept!

Last night I went to a really fun party!  I ran into an old friend from the Academy who graduated in 2006 and he invited me to their commander's going away party.  It was such a nice surprise to see someone I knew. There was a slip-n-slide, pinatas and a bonfire later!

Below is a girl I met named Sara who lives in Seoul and works as an English teacher.  I am excited to hang out with her this year!  She has invited me to come visit in Seoul as well.

Below is the commander's going away.  Yes...he is wearing a coconut bra.

Finally the bonfire!!  It was starting to get chilly for this Florida girl!!

Moving rooms...

So the photo below was looking out of my OLD room...it was horrible!!  Nasty, dirty and stinky!  And it was right on the road.  Boo.

BUT!  I got to move rooms.  Below is my new view.  I have my own back yard and beautiful trees!
I am excited to live here for a year, although after a year I am sure I will be ready to go!  I also took a few photos of my walk to work, eventually my drive.

I also walk by the gym (below with view of running track) and the chapel.

AND! One of the most amazing things is the Starbucks!  I was ecstatic to see one here!

My real first days in Korea....

Okay...so below are officially the photos from my first days in Korea....

Above is me in the passenger terminal of the Osan airport on base.  It was a hardened building with no windows and freezing cold!  I guess its important to be safe if there is a nuclear attack.  Below are a few photos from the outside of the building and the maps on the plane!

Breakfast the first morning!  Yummy....and my growing food collection on day two!

Up next: My room!

First Days in Korea!

Hey hey!  So I have attached a few photos below from my departure!
That's me in the Orlando Airport!  Below is the screen depicting my departure flight!
Below...I have arrived in Japan!  I slept almost the entire flight!

See my next post for more photos!  I miss you!
