Feel So Good!

Hey y'all!  Sorry it has been a while.  We have been having some base-wide training and in between that and having to finish my final paper for my class, it's hard to find some time to post.  Don't worry I have a TON of photos for you!  I will try to do a double-post every now and then.  But for now I'll take you to one of my favorite little places here so far - Feel So Good!  Well, that's not really what it's called but we call it that because that's the only part of the sign that's in English.  The good thing is that the menu has pictures!

These are some of the crew that goes to the orphanage.

Yummy!
Not so yummy.

I think these waffles were one of the best things I have eaten here.  Such a treat.

I'll leave you with that thought - Feel So Good.

Drums on a Rainy Day

Hey there!  Below are some more photos of another trip that I took to the orphanage.  I try to go once a week when I am not swamped with school and work.  The first photo is my one windshield wiper feverishly working!  It was raining so I wasn't sure what to expect with the kids because we normally play outside.  I ended up having a blast.

Because our group showed up on a different day than normal, the kids were having lessons.  Music was LOUD, but it was fun listening.

Below are some of the other people that go with us on the trips to the orphanage.

It was hard to get a non-blurry photo, they were moving so fast.

I absolutely LOVE this little girl that I was reading to.  She was the most attentive kid I have ever met.

That's all for now folks!

Protests and Videography

Here in Kunsan and near-by Gunsan City we have a lot of protestors.  Below is one of the groups.  Most are peaceful and most are regularly scheduled.
Below are some peeps from a staff meeting...notice how intently we are all paying attention.

We also learned the basics of videography at this meeting.  That's something they don't teach the officers at our tech school, but I think it's good to learn what the people do that work for you!  Plus it was fun!!
Sorry the photos are so blurry too....perhaps in the future I will get a photography lesson.

Public Affairs Jerseys!

Hey!!  We picked up our brand-new jerseys in A-town recently.  They were the first-ever PA jerseys.  It was a pretty exciting moment!
Sporting my brand new jersey...it says Public Affairs across the front and Spidey across the back with the number 17 (8+9=17).

Afterward we decided to grab some chow and stopped over at Big Boy!  The pig below would definitely fit in with the one's at Neal's!!  Man I miss that food!!!!

We ordered some fried Mandu (sp?) and I ordered some bibimbap.  She even stirred it together for me because she thought I didn't know how.  Super nice of her!!  She was definitely my favorite and the food was pretty awesome too.

My new best friend!
P.S. That's a super sweet shirt I am wearing.

Boat Race w/ Randy Jr.

Our base celebrated the 4th of July on the 1st, kicking off with a cardboard boat regatta.  One of my sergeants and I entered our cardboard machine, which unfortunately didn't make it too far.  Needless to say we all had a really great time!  We named it Randy Jr. after my car!

This was our wonderful boat in it's beginning stages!

Above is our boat on race day and below I don't look scared at all!

Some of the competition below!

Not sure what I am doing here and probably one of the worst pictures ever.

Above and below are some of the AFN guys who we work closely with.

One of our sergeants getting ready to film this debacle.

See the tiny floundering boat in the background of the photo below?  Yup...that's us.  At least we got some loud applause!

Chinese food in Korea

Our media specialist took us out to eat Chinese the other day.  It was pretty tasty and I even branched out a little.

Some of the decor...

The menu....

Chit-chatting.  The dishes on the table are the side dishes that come free with every meal.  They vary at each restaurant, but kimchi is usually served.  The yellow dishes are radishes and white was some type of vinegar cabbage.

Look at that sea cucumber...yumm!!

There it is...just sitting on my plate....staring at me...

No words are necessary for that one.  It actually didn't taste that bad!

And delicious strawberry ice for dessert.
