Eating Italian in Korea

Coming to Korea with a Baghdad mentality has left me with a few nice surprises, the first of which was leaving base in my first week here.  My wonderful sponsor (pictured below) invited me out to dinner and a quick drive around town, marking one week in Korea. Not that I am counting yet!  (BUT I AM COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS TIL THE DROP!)  Below is our restaurant - Paradiso Perduto - which I have translated and means Paradise Lost.

The restaurant is behind me.  Below is my first "Korean" meal.  Spaghetti!  Fortunately, I got lucky.  The menu was in Korean (see below) and the English translation for my meal was Tomato, Basil and Mozarella.  The alcohol and sodas were the only things that could be truly interpretted.
We split a salad (which was very tasty!), which was followed by my main course.  In Korea it is considered offensive if you don't eat everything on your plate.  And while my bowl of spaghetti below doesn't look that big...it was huge.  Probably the biggest bowl of pasta that I have ever finished!  And yes...I finished every last bite.  uhhhhh.

Awww....they brought us a romantic candle!  Up next...beautiful photos of a lake in Korea!
