After taking a little trip to the police station, our Public Affairs media rep took me out to lunch! I was about to have my first taste of real Korean food. We went to a place called E-mart...sort of like Wal-Mart only bigger (it has a food court). Bet you can't guess the restaurant below!
And then you wait for your number to appear on the screen at your selected eatery. Ours was below.
So....you place your order with this lady for any one of the eateries behind her.

This is awesome! You get your own cup from the sterilized cabinet on the right and then you get your water from the white dispensers. After you are done you put your cup in the metal bin on the left. So efficient!
This was my meal! Towards the bottom of the page is kimchi...think fermented cabbage on the right and radish on the left. The majority of my bowl was comprised of food I have never tried. Top left is some soup so that later, when I am eating and my nose is running because of the hot red chili paste in my bowl, I can have something to ease the pain. Silver container is rice. You just dump the rice in the main bowl, mix and enjoy! Next time I will take out a little bit of the red chili paste...
This is me taking my very first bite of kimchi ever. I think my goal is to work up a tolerance for spicy food here...not like I have a choice or anything.
Up next: sneaking out on a work night: more water dispensers and some seaweed.
P.S. EXTREMELY HAPPY THAT THE HUBBY AND I WILL FINALLY BE STATIONED TOGETHER. I LOVE YOU BABE!
